Bad Waldsee – "I am very relieved! I can now play the rest of the season with no pressure." Daniel Wünsche, already the winner of the Sueno Dunes Classic in Belek this year, was ecstatic after his second win of the season: he won the play-off at the Bad Waldsee Classic with a confident birdie, giving his play-off opponent Johan Eerdmans no chance, and moved up to second place in the ranking. With this he has secured direct qualification for stage 2 of the qualifying school and he and tour leader Max Kramer have almost wrapped up a ticket for the Challenge Tour 2011.

Johan Eerdman's tee shot at the 148 metre long final hole of the championship golf course at Bad Waldsee Vitalpark went through the green and the Dutchman had to settle for a bogey in the play-off. Prior to this they had both provided an exciting exchange of strokes in the final round in which several other professionals were also able to challenge. At times, six players shared first place on the leader board. The lead constantly changed and the spectators in Bad Waldsee were treated to one of the most exciting final rounds of the season. Wünsche (67, 67, 70) and Eerdmans (66, 69, 69) in the end finished the three tournament rounds at 12 under par. Björn Stromsky (67, 68, 70) and Daniel Froreich (72, 67, 66) came back to the clubhouse at 11 under par, although Froreich had the best final round.

43 players in total had made the cut at the fourth-from-last tournament of the 2010 season. With four birdies on the first five holes, Benjamin Miarka from Hannover was initially heading towards his first win of the season but at the end of the day he only managed a round of 70 and shared fifth place with Dennis Küpper (GC Düsseldorf-Grafenberg) and the Englishman Grant Jackson; all three finishing at 10 under par.

Spectator magnet

The Bad Waldsee Classic once again proved to be a spectator magnet. Several hundred golf fans and different television broadcasters came to the golf resort in the south of Germany and watched the professionals close up. Three tournaments are still to come: next week there is the Chronos Cup in Ulm, the last tournament premiere of the year (16th to 18th August), the Preis des Hardenberg GolfResort (5th to 7th September) and the Fulda EPD Tour Championship (24th to 26th September), with the latter being the final of the 2010 season.
