Six ahead: German Florian Fritsch triumphs in style
Lobbach-Lobenfeld/Germany (mat) – Germany’s Florian Fritsch is the winner of the 2010 Heidelberg Lobenfeld Classic. With a total 9 under par on the par 71 course of the Golfclub Heidelberg-Lobenfeld the 24 year old won in style securing the trophy and the 4814 Euro winner’s cheque. Rounds of 69, 67 and 68 strokes finally meant a six stroke margin for Fritsch, No. 31 of the 2009 final Challenge Tour rankings. Runner-up-position was shared by his fellow countrymen Stephan Gross (68, 70, 72) and Max Kramer (69, 71, 70) who both shot 3 under par in total.
„I did not practice very much during the last weeks“, Fritsch said, „but my game was very precise and solid this week.” I is just 4 weeks ago that Fritsch officially posted the end of his career as a tour professional. “This life is not made for me”, he said. He was frightened to fly and felt too much pressure end expectations. Meanwhile he decided that 2010 should be his “decision-year” – and by the end of the season he would maybe continue to play tournament golf or even switch into the PGA golf teacher’s profession.
Another seven or eight tournaments are on his schedule for 2010 – also on the EPD Tour. Next EPD Tour tournament is the Augsburg Classic May 31st to June 2nd – German Christopher Trunzer will be the defending champion.
Michael Lowe & Flo Fritsch reach out for the trophy
Lobbach-Lobenfeld/Germany (mat) – Germany’s Florian Fritsch and Michael Lowe from England seem to make the final day of the Heidelberg Lobenfeld Classic among themselves: After 45 holes of the three-round-tournament Fritsch with 7 under par is one shot ahead of Lowe. Stephan Gross and Max Kramer, both from Germany as well, share 3rd place with 2 under par.
156 compete at the Heidelberg Lobenfeld Classic
Players obviously want to get started with the 2010 season: The 156 field of the Heidelberg Lobenfeld Classic reads like the Who’s who of the EPD Tour – including many Champions of this season and of recent years. Also European-Tour-Player Stephan Gross and his Coach Ted Long tee off on the Par-71-Course of the GC Heidelberg-Lobenfeld, today.
