With rounds of 69, 65 and 69 strokes Jurrian van der Vaart triumphed on the par 72 course of Golfanlage Pfaffing, a scenic venue in the south of Bavaria. 4th place was taken by Grant Jackson from England (65, 71, 70/-10).

Pfaffing – It was just last December when he turned pro – now Jurrian van der Vaart is already a winner on the EPD Tour: The 24 year old from Almelo in the Netherlands played brilliant from tee to green – and there he made well use of his opportunities to make a birdie, perfectly assisted by his brother Leander who is his caddie these days. “I was pretty surprised that this golf course despite being not very long can be so tough”, van der Vaart said after the winning ceremony. “The greens are extremely tricky, very small and well protected by thick rough. I was really nervous at the beginning.” Not that anyone could have noticed: He started with four birdies in a row into the final round and was soon four strokes ahead of the field. But a bogey on 5 and a double-bogey on 7 got his opponents back into the match.

Englands Grant Jackson who had set a new course record 65 on the first day of the tournament, took pole position again, and also Germans Max Kramer and Dennis Küpper chased van der Vaart with success. But finally the Dutchmen won the race to victory and secured his maiden win as a professional. “I am getting more and more used to the routines of a life as a professional – that helps a lot”, he tried to explain his great performance with birdies on 12, 13 and 16.

4814 euro prize money made him move from 14th to 4th position of the EPD tour Order of Merit – good enough for a Challenge Tour ticket should he keep at least this position till the end of the season. Five tournaments are left – the next event is the GreenEagle Classic July 29 to 31.
